It is true that an electric car is more expensive than a gasoline model. There is even a big difference in price, which can sometimes slow down the motivation to go electric.<\/p>\n

For example, let’s take the case of the Kona 2022, one of the best-selling electric cars in Quebec. Its electric version costs\u00a046,435 compared to $26,638\u00a0<\/strong>for the equivalent gasoline version. That’s a\u00a0difference of $19,797<\/strong>, which may seem like a lot at first! However, for the electric version, you are eligible for a\u00a0government subsidy of $5,000 at the federal level and $7,000 at the provincial level<\/strong>. There is therefore a\u00a0difference of $9360<\/strong>\u00a0when you purchase the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The cost of using the car: a factor to consider!<\/h2>\n

To establish the difference in cost between an electric and a gasoline model, we must also consider\u00a0the cost of using the car<\/strong>. If we take the Kona as an example, the electric version costs\u00a0$8,451<\/strong>\u00a0per year for\u00a030,000 km<\/strong>\u00a0compared to\u00a0$10,204.<\/strong>\u00a0Thus, for 30,000 km driven per year, you save\u00a0$1,753 per year<\/strong>\u00a0by choosing the electric version.<\/p>\n
