For future electric car owners, there are subsidies available that you can take advantage of when purchasing an electric vehicle. Programs are also available for the purchase and installation of a residential charging station in your area.
Here are the programs available to you:
SUBSIDIES FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE:
Through the Roulez Vert program, the Quebec government is currently offering a rebate of up to $4,000 on the purchase or lease of a new electric vehicle. The rebate is available to individuals, businesses, organizations, and municipalities. It also offers a $2,000 subsidy for the purchase of a used EV.
In summary, here are the amounts offered by the Quebec government as of April 1, 2025:
- $4,000 for a fully electric vehicle
- $2,000 or $1,000 for a plug-in hybrid vehicle
- $4,000 for a hydrogen vehicle (fuel cell vehicle)
- $1,000 for an electric motorcycle
The Government of Canada offers a $5,000 incentive for the purchase or lease of a battery electric vehicle, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, or a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.
SUBSIDIES FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A RESIDENTIAL CHARGING STATION:
The Quebec government offers $600 in financial assistance for the purchase of a Level 2 residential charging station and its installation by a certified electrician. Proof of installation is now required to obtain this financial assistance. If you already had a 240-volt outlet outside your home or in your garage, you can provide one or more photos as proof of installation. Make sure that the installed station is visible, along with an overview of your home and your door number.
